Satakarni Tickets Cheaper Than Khaidi?
This Sankranthi, two titans – Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna are clashing at the BO. With both their films 150th and 100th respectively are landmarks in their career, tempers are rising on both sides on the openings & BO records.
However, Balayya’s Gautamiputra Satakarni has an advantage over Chiru’s Khaidi. As the state governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh expected to waive off the entertainment tax for Satakarni, the move is going to come in handy for Balayya.
Gunasekhar’s Rudhramadevi too got similar exemption in Telangana. And it helped the film indeed.
Satakarni Tickets To Be Cheaper
GOs of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh exempting Entertainment Tax for Satakarni are expected today. As per the GO, if a film is exempted from Entertainment Tax, the benefit should be passed onto the viewers.
For example, if the ticket rate is Rs 150, it is enough if a viewer pays Rs 118 in case of entertainment tax-exempted films. However, maintenance charges of theatre would be retained.
So, in multiplexes and single screens, Satakarni ticket is going to be cheaper than that of Khaidi provided it gets Tax exemption from the state governments.
However, it all depends on the clauses in the GO.
BO Collections: Advantage for Satakarni
Since Satakarni is sold for lesser ticket price, this may act as an incentive for people to watch the film in bulk resulting in more collections.
“Our motive is not collections. The movie is based on Telugu history. It is Telugu pride. So, our idea is that the film be seen by larger number of people. Every Telugu should watch Satakarni,” said a source close to the producer of Satakarni.
On the whole, one has to wait and see what’s in store for Khaidi No. 150 & GPSK as there’s a tug of war and above all, huge monies are at stake.
