As Telugu film lovers are just days shy of watching the films of two of the top most senior heroes of Tollywood, here is a comprehensive analysis on how much megastar’s Khaidi No.150 and Balakrishna’s Gautamiputra Satakarni need to collect at box office to be called hits.

GPS has done the career best pre-release business for Balayya. As the craze for the film is at peaks, the distribution rights of AP especially were bought for huge prices. With Rs 11 Cr from Nizam and Rs 28+ Cr from AP, GPS has done Rs 39+ Cr business in the Telugu states. Adding the close to Rs 10 Cr theatrical business from Karnataka, Rest of India and Overseas, GPS has done a total business of Rs 49+ Cr.

So, the film needs to collect around Rs 50 Cr share from its theatrical run. Given the Sankranthi season advantage and tax exemption in the Telugu states, recovering this amount doesn’t look tough for the Balayya starrer provided it offers decent content.

On the other hand, the rights of Khaidi No.150 have been sold for a total of close to Rs 84 Cr (Nizam – 21, Andhra – 43, Overseas – 10, Rest of India & Karnataka – 10). So, Khaidi needs to amass over Rs 84 Cr share from theatrical run to land its distributors in safe zone. The number looks huge and so does the craze surrounding this project.

With good content offered, Sankranthi season has the potential to make both these films score hits. Jan 11th – Khaidi No.150 & Jan 12th – GPS.
